Mechanical Solidworks Drafter

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Drafter to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in modeling, a deep understanding of mechanics, and proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD software. This role requires someone who is humble, open to feedback, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

+ Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD Software:
+ Ability to create detailed 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies.
+ Expertise in using advanced SolidWorks tools such as Draft, Radius, Blending, Chamfer, and Spline.
+ Technical Drawing and Blueprint Interpretation:
+ Strong understanding of mechanical principles and mechanisms.
+ Ability to produce accurate and detailed technical drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
+ Testing and Analysis:
+ Experience in setting up and conducting tests of mechanical components and assemblies.
+ Ability to analyze, calculate, estimate, and assist in costing of parts and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Modeling: Create detailed 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
+ Drafting Drawings: Produce accurate and detailed technical drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
+ Dimensioning: Apply precise dimensions to drawings to ensure proper fit and function of components.
+ Assembly: Utilize SolidWorks tools to simulate and verify the assembly process of mechanical parts.
+ Exploded Views: Assist with creating exploded views of assemblies and graphical representations of parts and assemblies for marketing purposes.
+ Liaison: Act as a liaison between the Engineering and Marketing/Graphics departments.
+ Layouts and Drawings: Prepare layouts and drawings of parts and assemblies, bills of materials, and system specifications.
+ Design Assistance: Assist engineers in the design, development, testing, installation, and operation of mechanical components and assemblies.
+ Cost Analysis: Analyze, calculate, estimate, and assist in costing of parts and assemblies.
+ Testing: Set up and conduct tests of complete units and parts as they would actually be used, to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance.
+ Documentation: Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in products or test methods. Compare test results to design specifications and test objectives.
+ Tool Utilization: Utilize appropriate tools, instruments, testing equipment, and gauges for measurements, testing, and studies.
+ Fabrication Equipment: Operate minor fabrication equipment such as drill press, cutting tools, tread tapping, etc.
Qualifications:
+ Education and Experience:
+ Associate degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
+ Without a degree, 3-4 years of relevant experience.
+ Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD software.
+ Strong understanding of mechanical principles and mechanisms.
+ Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Preferred Skills:
+ Standards Knowledge: Understanding of ASME 14.1 standards.
+ Drawing Techniques: Knowledge of best practices in drafting and drawing techniques.
+ SolidWorks Advanced Tools:
+ Understanding how to use Draft in SolidWorks tool effectively to ensure parts come out cleanly (no undercuts).
+ Proficiency with advanced Radius, Blending, Chamfer, and Spline tools in SolidWorks.
+ Ability to quickly measure distances of features or components.
+ Ability to quickly assemble and identify clearances or interferences within an assembly or component differences.
+ Experience with SolidWorks Motion and Simulation (nice to have).
+ Ability to place imported images onto surfaces of parts or assembly components for rendering.
+ Ability to render in SolidWorks to make parts and assemblies appear more realistic using basic functionality.

+ On-site within the Mechanical Department, collaborating with engineers and other designers/drafters.

Pay Rate: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
