The successful candidate will join the Facility Operations team to operate and maintain mechanical systems and equipment in support of Air Operations and wind tunnels at NASA Langley Research Center. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and workmanship. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.
Responsibilities

Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering, mathematics or related engineering courses, plus four (4) years relevant mechanical experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and training that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade school program and experience for a total of six (6) years. Knowledge of OSHA Lockout/Tagout program is preferred.
Must have good communication skills, be detail-oriented, able to work with a team, and have good problem-solving skills. Consideration given for military training, technical school, or aviation maintenance training.

Office environment. (20%). Test/Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities. (75%)
Travel between facilities and test operations may be required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment and chemical operations. (5%)
Physical Requirements
Must have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. (50%) Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. (75%). Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (75%)

U.S. Citizenship required. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client. Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.
