What You'll Do:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day coordination and execution of job assignments within the Lab Operations Team. In addition, their responsibilities include managing the operating team members, managing support team members, completing performance reviews, test scheduling and management of lab utilities while driving 5S and Safety. The Operations Supervisor should also take an active role in the areas of EH&S and ISO.
What We're Looking For:
Provide direction by making job assignments when needed to ensure work is completed. Complete salary administration for their area of responsibility while seeking input from others. Coach individuals or teams through issues as needed. Formalize coaching documentation / discipline as needed. Monitor each shift for any problems in the team process and address them on a proactive basis (involving the Operations Manager only when the problems are beyond the scope of the Supervisor). Complete annual performance reviews (PCM) with technicians from area of responsibility. Monitor laboratory support systems daily and manage maintenance needs of lab support systems. Spend time on each shift to address and accountability, responsibility or interpersonal issues. Provide or coordinate specific training to allow shift coordinators and operating team members to perform their individual roles in the 24/7 operation. Actively support initiatives such as ISO, RCMS (Responsible Care Management System) and OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program). Coordinate test scheduling for Mechanical Testing. Serve as hiring manager for their respective area(s). Complete end of the month billing for all standardized testing. Ensure the operations group follows corporate policies, philosophies, and practices. Provide general lab tours as needed for visitors. Be active in 5S activities to ensure areas are 5S complaint and are being sustained. Drive Safety as a key focus area and provide updates as well as safety improvements for the area.Decision Making
Manage lab expenditures within the budgets (overtime/lab supplies). Manage resources (people and equipment) to maximize testing capabilities. Determine and recommend appropriate level of involvement and action needed in employee issues to the Operations Manager. Apply sound judgment when personal safety or environmental safety issues arise. Prioritize work to maximize impact on individuals, the department and the corporation.Behaviors

Skills That Make a Difference:
High school diploma. Associate degree in a technical field is a plus. Previous supervisory experience or experience leading a team. Minimum of five years work experience in a mechanical or production work environment. Computer skills, Excel/Microsoft Word and local systems such as MTR, SAP and drain registration. Mechanical acumen, familiarity with standard engine and driveline nomenclature. Good basic math skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences at all organizational levels. Ability to multitask and delegate work as appropriate.
What Will Be Your Environment:
Flexible with work schedule and willing to accept calls 24/7. Requires use of appropriate PPE, Personal Protective Equipment, to fulfill safety requirements. Coordinate vacation and travel with operations staff to ensure the best coverage for Mechanical Testing.
