What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The alliance contractor vessel drafter will provide drafting support for the Materials, Vessels, and Piping Technology (MVPT) team in Process Engineering (PrE). Work will be in support of capital projects and 100% of hours should be charged to capital job charge codes. Vessel Drafter will be responsible for transforming MVPT designer and engineer designs into detailed and accurate fabrication drawings. Knowledge of the required software and strong attention to detail are essential to ensuring the precision and quality of these drawings and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Develop vessel drawings.  Take basic vessel design information and provide the following on vessel drawings:

 Vessel fabrication dimensions

To-scale Vessels and vessel details

Nozzle details

Weld details

List of applicable Eastman vessel standard details

Grounding lugs

Insulation supports

Material callouts

Verification of vessel dimensions

Sketches to verify U-Tube vessel bend radii

Verification of tube sheet tube layout, pass partition lanes, etc. by layout of these details on vessel drawings

TNO Serial Numbers, TN Numbers, Vessel Classifications, etc.

Vessel Classifications

Convert vendor drawings into standard site format 4V vessel drawings

Make updates to existing drawings to reflect changes and repairs as directed by designers and engineers

Ideal Background

Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.  

Certification: Certification is not required at this level.  

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical drafting and design.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in Microstation V8, ProjectWise, and Miridiam software

Experience with performing mechanical drafting for vessels, using engineering standards, and related work in the chemical industry is preferred

Working knowledge of Compress, AMETank, ETank, and PVElite to extract vessel design data to be placed on vessel drawings

Knowledge of ASME, API, and PIP Standards a PLUS

Strong team player with strong analytical and organizational skills, able to juggle several concurrent projects and communicate effectively, seeking out technical clarifications as needed

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
