Mechanics Helper Position Overview The Mechanics Helper will work as needed during weather events and perform routine repair and maintenance on Fleet vehicles. Mechanics Helper Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Service and maintain Trucks (LD 1500 up to 7500 and larger) and Heavy Equipment (Loaders, snow moving equipment etc..). + Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair various types and brands of equipment with limited supervision. + Evaluate priority and repair equipment during inclement weather on air-field. + Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. + Work on equipment at local airports during snow events. + Test drive equipment as needed. + Work on-call during long duration snow events. Mechanics Helper Requirements + Minimum 1-year mechanical experience. + Experienced using all tools of the trade (diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools, etc.) – welding and hot work capabilities are a plus. + Ability to work on Diesel equipment preferred. + Ability to use maintenance software to receive, create and complete work orders. + Ability to obtain airport security clearance. + Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions. + Possess strong customer service and communication skills. + Must have own tools. Preferred + Well-organized. + Must have a valid driver license. + Able to lift to 50 lbs. + Required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, grasp, carry, push and pull. + The ability to travel overnight to other locations throughout the US as needed is a plus.
