Workplace Status:

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The Controller Test Engineer role is responsible for developing and testing our next generation software.

The Mechatronic Software Platform Organization leads a mission to create a robust mechatronic software infrastructure which will enable GM to deliver features and functions that will excite and delight our customers. We are an engaged, inclusive, and innovative team that adapts to challenges and works together to enable the enterprise to deliver and test application code frequently and efficiently to support our Software Defined Vehicle future. This is a brand new growing organization, and as such we need innovative thinkers to fill multiple openings in roles similar to those defined below. 

What You’ll do:

Develop and execute controls test plans and procedures to accurately test controls software and ensure designs are of high quality.Propose enhancements in both test processes and strategic approach.Create and maintain overall test matrix encompassing infrastructure-level test cases, CG-based test cases, and any application-level test cases that will run on virtual hardware and/or physical properties such as benches and vehicles.Develop automated test procedures that can be run on benches and/or vehicle.Execute verification and validation testing on time and with quality to meet program milestones.Provide testing status to leadership and the appropriate program teams.Collaborate with algorithm design development engineers, technical specialists, and calibrators to improve controls algorithms.Lead issue resolution by providing technical direction.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

BS in Computer Science, Electrical, Software, Mechanical or Computer Engineering5+ years of professional experience in software integration, CI/CD and/or DevOps with experience in tooling, infrastructure solutions and automated testingExperience in SW development/testing, instrumentation and benches (e.g. dSPACE), Simulink, Stateflow, ETAS INCA and Vehicle SpyKnowledge of programming languages (specifically Python, C/C++. Assembly, Perl, Java). Python is most heavily utilized.Familiarity with microprocessor/micro-controller design and theoryAbility to independently investigate issues based on limited information, demonstrating high level of analytical ability to resolve complex problemsCreative and disciplined with a strong sense of ownership, responsibility and on schedule delivery commitmentCapable of completing multiple tasks with competing prioritiesHigh level of interpersonal skills to work effectively

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Software, Mechanical or Computer Engineering7+ years   of professional experience in software integration, CI/CDExperience with Automotive Communication Protocols (Ethernet/CAN/LIN)Experience working in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)Project management skills: planning and prioritizing work to deliver required objectives on time with quality
