Description:Position Summary - Provides accurate diagnostic and therapeutic test results to the responsible health care provider with minimal supervision using appropriate laboratory equipment.

Position requirements:
AS (MLT) with ASCP eligible or equivalent

Utilizes quality control for decision making on a routine basis to establish standards

Communicates critical values in accordance with departmental policyRecognizes abnormal results and takes appropriate action in accordance with departmental policyAccurately performs STAT and routine orders within established time limitsConsistently demonstrates team workPrioritizes workload based on volumeAdequately collects and/or processes specimensSafely performs all routine maintenance proceduresPerforms and evaluates instrument functionsRecognizes malfunctions and implements corrective actionsConsistently completes documentation of maintenance procedures and/or instrument malfunctions notifies appropriate personnelCommunicates instrumentation status to appropriate personnel including oncoming shift by utilizing Departmental Communication bookMonitors inventory levels and follows appropriate protocol for re-ordering suppliesReviews appropriate specimen logs to confirm completion of work and resolve outstanding testsDemonstrates adequate knowledge of appropriate computer functionsDemonstrates ability to adequately use departmental down time procedureRecognizes specific problems and takes appropriate corrective action in accordance with departmental policyMaintains system securityConsistently assumes responsibility for calls, correctly answers questions, directs inquires and takes messagesAlways demonstrates proper telephone etiquetteAssists Central Processing by receiving specimens, responding to Pneumatic tube and answering telephonesAdapts work schedule to meet emergency staffing needsIs responsive, courteous, respectful and cooperative in completing tasksPerforms other related duties as required
