Summary
All Native Group is seeking a Medevac Coordinator to support the Bureau of Medical Services, Foreign Programs Office. He/she assists in the oversight of medical evacuations worldwide, and directly case manages medical evacuations to the United States for more than 45,000 official Americans and family members at 275 embassies, consulates, and other missions overseas. The Practitioner will work with senior DOS management, management officials at post and patients to facilitate movement of the patient for Medical Evacuation (Medevac) purposes. The Practitioner is expected to use his/her knowledge and ability to find the appropriate solution for questions regarding medevacs and if there is a question, know when to request assistance from the DOS manager and their designees. The Practitioner will provide relevant information from Department of State policies and procedures to all patients and management officials at post. The Practitioner will be required to become familiar with the Department of State Foreign Affairs Manuals (FAM) and the Foreign Affairs Handbook (FAH) as it refers to medical evacuations.
Essential Functions
Directs patients and management officials at post to appropriate staff within the Department of State and ensures that all questions are resolved. Responds proactively to patients’ questions and need for information relative to their particular situation.Uses strong clinical background, all medical information including specialists reports, laboratory tests, and other parameters, in judging whether the information is complete and complies with standard-of-care treatment plans and to determine when and if the evacuee is medically qualified to return to an overseas assignment. Initiates requests for additional information and determines what is crucial for determination of a medical clearance for the patient to return to post.Directs the flow of medical evacuations by managing and recording the input of data and patient communications. They will also assist the patient and post in determining the terminal point of the medical evacuation and in determining the necessary clearances required, and other data needed to make an evacuation decision. Actively participates in staff meetings and in other clinical and administrative discussions. Works with other personnel within Foreign Programs to develop, implement, and chart, in e-MED, all appropriate information regarding the plan of treatment for patients who are medically evacuated. The Practitioner is ultimately responsible for the treatment plan of those patients assigned and will perform necessary follow up services intended to have the patient understand what treatment is required, when it is required, and what must be done to obtain treatment.Provides guidance and assistance to post and MED-Washington medical professionals to assist in ascertaining whether the patient needs to be evacuated and/or have other necessary medical appointments upon arrival in the United States.Provides information telephonically, through e-mail, fax, and/or through official Department of State cables. Such methods of communication will provide necessary instructions, information, or authorizations as necessary.Competencies
The candidate must have an active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements listed above, it is preferable the applicant have experience working with the Department of State Medical Program, or specialized work experience (federal or other) that is performing ongoing case management, making recommendations to a health Medical Officer; experience conducting independent research and analysis.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend hours required, as required by business need.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.
Experience
The Medevac Coordinator shall possess the following minimum knowledge, skills, and experience:
