Job Description
Medevac Dispatchers play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and successful operation of medevac aircraft missions. As the first point of contact for medevac requests, the Dispatcher coordinates medical and flight resources and monitors the operation from start to finish. Additionally, the Dispatcher supports administrative tasks such as logging flight data, managing invoices, and communicating with passengers when necessary.
Responsibilities
Coordinate Medevac Operations
Receive and process incoming medevac requests, notifying medical and flight personnel to initiate the operation.
Plan each medevac flight departure with a focus on safety, compliance, and schedule continuity.
Coordinate with pilots and medical crew to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Analyze weather and airport conditions to anticipate any potential impacts on aircraft operations.
Flight Management
Create flight plans using airport operations data and runway configurations.
Provide support to pilots to ensure the safe and smooth operation of flights.
Monitor flight progress, alerting crew of any significant changes to flight plans or weather and recommend alternative safety measures as needed.
Perform flight following to track the progress of flights and ensure any deviations or delays are addressed immediately.
Communication with Passengers and Crew
Serve as a point of contact for passengers during medevac operations, providing them with necessary information and updates regarding flight details or changes.
Communicate any important information to passengers regarding scheduling, emergencies, or other logistical issues.
Administrative and Logistical Support
Input flight logs into Airplane Manager or other flight management systems.
Assist in managing invoices related to medevac operations.
Maintain competency through initial and recurring company-arranged training.
Handle multiple tasks independently, with minimal supervision, prioritizing and completing tasks with high attention to detail.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is required.
EMT or medical experience is highly desirable.
Prior experience in aircraft dispatch is desirable.
Strong ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to address both practical and abstract challenges.
Proficiency in computer-based environments, including Windows and web browsers.
A Drivers License with 3 years of good driving on your record for company insurance purposes.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work is performed in an office environment with standard temperatures, ventilation, and lighting.
High levels of visual concentration are required when preparing flight plans, dispatching aircraft, monitoring flight movements, and recording technical data related to aircraft operations.
Alertness is essential when performing repetitive tasks, such as data entry, and when ensuring the safety and well-being of others.
