Medical Assistant, Lead - Craig Family Medicine Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for actively coordinating and organizing an efficient clinic workflow for an in-person person and/ or telemedicine visits across care practice area(s). This position will monitor and resolve potential scheduling issues or complaints during clinic/unit hours. The Lead MA is responsible for the orientation, precepting/onboarding of new staff, and monitoring the staff competencies. This position will act as the lead to all the Medical Assistant staff, and ensures that all staff adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and operational workflows. The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible in ensuring that policies, procedures, and operational workflows are followed. Responsible for clinic supply ordering. The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for performing all in-person or telemedicine intakes as defined by operational procedure, obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs/medication list, monitors patient flow, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures as defined by scope of practice, prepares patient chart with pertinent medical information. This position will monitor the lab/imaging of patients and may assist with prior authorizations for all clinical ambulatory prescriptions and prescription refill management. The is position will schedule and coordinate diagnostic tests ordered by the physician as needed. Performs various office and clerical duties. Ensures patient's right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties:

Ensures compliance with infection control policies.Responsible for the clinic supply ordering under the supervision of Clinic SupervisorAssists physicians with minor clinical procedures including staple removal, suture removal, and wound care. 10%Act as a lead and mentor to all Medical Assistant staff ensuring that the staff adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and operational workflows.Responsible for the orientation, precepting/onboarding of new staff, and monitoring the staff competencies.Ensures that policies, procedures, and operational workflows are followed.Performs in person or telemedicine intake as defined by operational procedure, obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs/medication list/all fields as outlined by policy and procedure.Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Req High school or equivalentReq Specialized/technical training Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.Req 2 years Experience as a medical assistant, preferably with at least 1-year experience in an ambulatory care setting.Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.Req Knowledge of ICD9 Coding, data collection for billing procedures and charge postingReq Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team.Req Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated.Req Must have the ability to multi-task, manage priorities and workflow.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pref Spanish language skillsPref Knowledge of medical terminology.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart AssociationReq Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $19.00 - $29.77.
