Job Summary:
We're in search of a medical assistant to work on a part time basis with our Behavioral Health & Recovery Services Division. The medical assistant is accountable to the Practice Manager, who is responsible for providing supervision and training. The medical assistant is one who actively promotes the philosophy of the Gándara Center and maintains a high level of commitment to the program
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide customer service to persons served, including: scheduling/rescheduling appointments, responding to inquiries, translations and liaising between staff members and addressing issues as they arise Scanning documents into the electronic health record, as assigned Providing support to prescribers, including: translation, documentation, faxing, receiving medical orders, verifying pharmacy information and medication Escorting persons served to and from waiting room and/or connecting to telehealth services Collecting individual served lab results or toxicology screens Clerical duties such as, phone calls, faxing. Photocopying or transcribing Communicate any facility, medical team or other operational issue to the Floor Supervisor, Practice Manger or other member of the Clinic Management Team Review and respond to voicemails and emails within two (2) business days Substitute temporarily for medical records, intake coordinator or toher support positions, as assigned Perform other related duties, as assigned Assist with Prior Authorizations Travel, as neededAdministrative Responsibilities/Record Keeping
Adhere to program and agency policies and procedures Ensure that required documentation is completed professionally and accurately and filed in the electronic health record in a timely manner Attend scheduled supervisory meetings Complete time sheets and submits them accurately and in a timely manner Maintain job related record keeping accurately and submit reports in a timely mannerMinimum Qualifications:
Minimum HS Diploma/equivalency and Medical Assistant Certification. Basic knowledge of office practices and professional environment, as they relate to job functions. Must understand the populations and information sensitivity [i.e. HIPAA and privacy laws and regulation], and protocols required in mental health.
