About the Position:
The Medical Assistant under the direction of the Registered Nurse must perform a variety of functions including administrative, medical, and secretarial functions related to the operation of the Wellness Center at Amity’s Circle Tree Ranch campus.
What You Will Do:
Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, check-in students, obtain necessary student information to file and update student records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by students.Obtaining and recording student medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.Facilitate self-administering medication protocols including preparation and monitoring the dispensing of medication according to scheduled work hours.Set up follow up systems for licensing requirement procedures, student’s nurse’s assessments, TB testing and other medical testing including obtaining specimens for microbiological testing in accordance with the Arizona administrative code 4-19-509 and contracts requiring random drug testing.Assists in urinalysis testing, reporting, and documenting to internal and external partners and/or other agencies as required.Coordinating appointment driving schedule with driver(s).Ensure all contracts comply with medical insurance, and that students get coverage through appropriate facilities.Manage inventory of medical supplies and including tracking of student medications, disposal of old/outdated, refills, picking up medications and ensuring that the Wellness Center is stocked with appropriate supplies.Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.Performs other related duties as assigned.What You Will Bring:
High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D., and work experience totaling a minimum of one year in a similar position in the medical fieldExperience using Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Record or similar software. Valid AZDPS Fingerprint Clearance card.Certification as a medical assistant (CMA) or equivalentExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to maintain confidential information.Ability to operate general office equipment.Demonstrates an understanding of human emotions with a high level of empathy.Ability to exercise an amount of empathy and understands the importance of role-reversal.Demonstrates skill in patience, active listening and interest in diverse life stories.
