Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform a variety of clinical, technical, service, and administrative tasks to ensure consistent delivery of patient care.
ResponsibilitiesPerform EKGs, lab tests, PFT, and audiometry as ordered by the physician.Admit patients to exam rooms and take vital signs, medical history, medication history, and allergy history.Perform quality controls and adhere to CLIA laboratory procedures.Ensure patient referrals are completed and forwarded appropriately.Document treatments, telephone contacts with patients, lab accessions, and outside medical testing logs.Conduct daily checks on equipment like oxygen and emergency boxes.Maintain examination rooms and medical areas in a clean and orderly fashion.Stock examination rooms with supplies and check supplies against packing slips.Register and transact patients promptly and accurately using the current computer system.Update patient information, including medical insurance coverage and eligibility.Schedule patient appointments and retrieve and file medical reports/lab results.Process HMO referrals as requested by physicians and patients.Communicate patient emergencies to physicians.Answer telephones, take messages, and ensure follow-up on all calls.Maintain file units and balance ledger sheets, accounting for all received monies.Provide discharge instructions to patients as per physician instructions and notify patients of test results via telephone.Essential SkillsCertification as a Medical Assistant or one year of relevant work experience.High school diploma or GED.Excellent phone manners, flexibility, and knowledge of computer data entry.Ability to handle diversified responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.BLS Certification.Phlebotomy experience is a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsAdaptability to a growing and changing environment.Excellent interpersonal skills.Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records.Epic system experience.Crisis management skills.Telephone etiquette.Work Environment
The position is located in various offices across New York, NY, and Brooklyn, NY. The work schedule varies by location, with some requiring weekend flexibility. The environment is fast-paced, and you will be working in a medical office setting.
