Job Title: Certified Medical AssistantJob Description The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for performing and assisting the physician in the office. This role involves providing high-quality customer service while managing various clinical and administrative tasks. Responsibilities + Greet and escort patients to exam rooms + Room patients utilizing rooming standards and set up exam rooms accordingly + Interview patients, measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information on patients' charts + Instruct patients regarding preparation for tests and procedures + Record laboratory, x-ray, ECG results, and other pertinent medical data in patients' charts + Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring the doctor sees all necessary information + Clean and stock exam rooms including monthly instrument cleaning, sterilization of instruments, and refilling of supplies as necessary + Handle patient telephone calls as directed by Triage Nurse + Screen patient telephone calls to the physician and call patients to relay advice, information, and instructions from the physician + Call in prescriptions and refills to pharmacies under physician direction + Schedule special appointments (e.g., referrals, surgeries, x-rays, and lab) + Assess and schedule appointments for patients + Communicate with callers, patients, physicians, and other staff in a polite, courteous, and understandable manner, reflecting the clinic’s commitment to high-quality customer service + Abstract medical information on patients into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Essential Skills + Certified or Registered Medical Assistant + 1 year of clinic experience + Experience with EPIC or other Electronic Health Record systems Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficiency in medical assisting + Experience in a clinical setting + Strong charting and triage skills Work Environment This position offers a 4-day work week with schedules varying depending on the doctor and/or if the medical assistant is in a float position. Work hours are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., totaling 36-40 hours per week for full-time MAs and fewer hours for part-time MAs. There are no weekend or holiday shifts. The clinic is a large local facility with 31 providers, including 6 mid-level providers, and has both a lab and radiology department.
