Job Description
This is a Medical Assistant Floater position for the Beach Region. The primary responsibility will be to float within designated offices, but you may also be required to cover locations outside of the listed offices. You must be flexible, dedicated, and professional. The Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The role includes performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. You will support various offices in either the Medical Assistant role or dedicated Lab Assistant role.
ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory testing procedures.Report laboratory results to a healthcare clinician and alert them of any critical or out-of-range values, documenting critical reports.Perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.Perform and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.Document the patient's intake vitals, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate; repeat and notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs, accurately documenting and updating medical records to include chief complaints, current medications, medication and food allergies, vaccine history, medical and surgical history, family and social histories, barriers to care, and home status.Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic, and laboratory results for clinician review and treatment follow-up as needed.Essential SkillsMedical assistingBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationPatient carePhlebotomyMedical terminologyActive and valid driver's licenseExperience with electronic medical records (EMR)Additional Skills & QualificationsMA Diploma/Certification required or a minimum of 3 years of MA experience in lieu of a diploma/certificationActive BLS certification requiredWork Environment
The work environment is patient-facing and primarily indoors. You will be operating a computer and may be exposed to hazards. Physical requirements include reaching outward and above the shoulder, manual dexterity, lifting/carrying 10 lbs. or less, sitting, walking, squatting, kneeling, or bending. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with Saturdays (up to 2x/month) from 8 am to 12 pm. Benefits include mileage reimbursement and an additional floater fee.
