Job Description
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for performing and assisting the physician in the office. This role involves providing high-quality customer service while managing various clinical and administrative tasks.
ResponsibilitiesGreet and escort patients to exam roomsRoom patients utilizing rooming standards and set up exam rooms accordinglyInterview patients, measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information on patients' chartsInstruct patients regarding preparation for tests and proceduresRecord laboratory, x-ray, ECG results, and other pertinent medical data in patients' chartsHandle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring the doctor sees all necessary informationClean and stock exam rooms including monthly instrument cleaning, sterilization of instruments, and refilling of supplies as necessaryHandle patient telephone calls as directed by Triage NurseScreen patient telephone calls to the physician and call patients to relay advice, information, and instructions from the physicianCall in prescriptions and refills to pharmacies under physician directionSchedule special appointments (e.g., referrals, surgeries, x-rays, and lab)Assess and schedule appointments for patientsCommunicate with callers, patients, physicians, and other staff in a polite, courteous, and understandable manner, reflecting the clinic’s commitment to high-quality customer serviceAbstract medical information on patients into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)Essential SkillsCertified or Registered Medical Assistant1 year of clinic experienceExperience with EPIC or other Electronic Health Record systemsAdditional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in medical assistingExperience in a clinical settingStrong charting and triage skillsAbout Actalent
