Job Description
This is a Medical Assistant Floater position for the Beach Region. The individual will primarily be floating within the offices listed but may also be required to cover in locations outside of the specified offices. The candidate must be flexible, dedicated, and professional!
ResponsibilitiesPerform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment.Support clinician and care management teams in assessing and maintaining chronic disease management.Perform all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.Report laboratory results to a healthcare clinician, alert the healthcare clinician of any critical or out-of-range values, and document critical reports.Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.Perform and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.Perform and document the patient’s intake vitals, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate, and notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs with accurate documentation, and update medical records to include chief complaint, current medications, medication and food allergies, vaccine, medical, surgical, family, social histories, any barriers to care, and home status.Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review, and treatment follow-up as needed.Essential SkillsMedical assistingPhlebotomyActive BLS certificationActive and valid driver's licenseMedical terminologyAdditional Skills & QualificationsMA Diploma/Certification required OR a minimum of 3 years MA experienceExperience with EMR systemsKnowledge of health care proceduresWork Environment
The position involves patient-facing duties in an indoor work environment. The job includes operating a computer and exposure to hazards. Physical activities include reaching outward and above the shoulder, manual dexterity, lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs., sitting, walking, squatting, kneeling, or bending. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm, with occasional Saturdays (up to 2x/month) from 8am-12pm. Benefits include mileage reimbursement and an additional $2 floater fee.
