Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform clinical tasks such as taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, and preparing them for x-rays. This role also involves collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, and ensuring a clean and organized environment. Duties may vary according to state law.

ResponsibilitiesTake medical histories and record vital signsExplain treatment procedures to patientsCollect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory testsDispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instrumentsArrange examining room instruments and equipmentClean and organize waiting and examining roomsInstruct patients about medications and special dietsAuthorize drug refills as directed and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacyPrepare patients for x-raysEssential SkillsHigh School Diploma or GEDMedical Assistant or CNA license1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a hospital settingProficiency with electronic health recordsAdditional Skills & QualificationsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentCompassionate and patient-centered approachWork Environment

This role offers a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional requirements to stay as late as 5:30 PM. No weekends or holidays are required. The position involves floating between locations in Hartford, East Hartford, Farmington, and Glastonbury, with schedules provided well in advance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00
