Job Description
Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, including exams and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks such as miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians' schedules.
ResponsibilitiesEscort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.Essential SkillsMedical assistingTaking vitalsExperience in outpatient settingsElectronic Medical Records (EMR) proficiencyCertified Medical Assistant (CMA)Bilingual (Spanish) preferredAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent1-3 years of experience as a medical assistantCurrent BCLS certification required within 3 months of hireCustomer service skillsAppointment scheduling experienceWork Environment
Work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM in an oncology office. The role involves duties for both front and back office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
