Job Description
The Floor Medical Assistant will be responsible for routine vital checks of patients and basic phlebotomy requirements. If a patient is in distress and in urgent need of care, this person will notify nursing staff to take action.
ResponsibilitiesBe the first point of contact for patients arriving to the emergency department.Collect the patient’s name and reason for visit.Enter the data so the patient is visible on the tracking board.Notify RN, “Patient for triage” if RN needed immediately.Enter and update the ED tracking board promptly to communicate with staff.Document and maintain patient records, including recording temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, oxygen saturation, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements.Assist in maintaining a safe environment, including checking equipment daily for proper function and reporting equipment that is out of order, appropriately handling linen, and storing supplies.Respond to patient requests and keep them updated on care progress.Report observed changes in patient condition to nurse or provider.Assist in triage with vital signs.Help to maintain clean and orderly patient and work environment.Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards, work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyElectronic medical record managementCustomer serviceMedical assistingAbility to take blood pressureConduct phlebotomy as neededAdditional Skills & Qualifications3 years of clinical experience preferred (MA certified or non-certified)MA certification or equivalent experience acceptedPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00
