Job Description

This position involves working as a Medical Assistant in the Winter Haven area.

ResponsibilitiesPerform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment.Support clinician and care management teams in assessing and maintaining chronic disease management.Perform all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.Report laboratory results to a healthcare clinician and alert them of any critical or out-of-range values, documenting critical reports.Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.Perform and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.Perform and document the patient’s intake vitals including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate; notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs with accurate documentation, updating medical records with chief complaint, current medications, allergies, vaccine, medical, surgical, family, and social histories, barriers to care, and home status.Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review, and treatment follow-up as needed.Essential SkillsMedical assisting diploma or certification OR a minimum of 3 years MA experience.Active BLS certification.Active and valid driver's license.Knowledge of patient care, phlebotomy, EMR, and medical terminology.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy.Ability to report laboratory results to healthcare clinicians and document critical reports.Skills in preparing specimens for lab send-outs and performing quality control.Competence in interviewing patients and updating medical records.Work Environment

This is a patient-facing role with indoor work primarily involving operating a computer and exposure to hazards. The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, and Saturdays from 8am to 12pm. Benefits include mileage reimbursement and an additional floater fee, only for Floating MAs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33196.00 - $46883.00

Offers mileage reimbursement for the floaters. Also benefits available: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k
