Job Description
Under direct supervision, you will assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Your role will promote efficient patient flow and care, including exams and procedures. You will also perform clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining the physicians' schedules.
ResponsibilitiesEscort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows.Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested by supervisor or physician.Essential SkillsMedical assistingTaking vitalsEMR experienceOutpatient experienceCertified Medical Assistant (CMA)Bilingual (Spanish preferred)Appointment schedulingCustomer serviceHealth care knowledgeAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent1-3 years experience as a medical assistantCurrent BCLS certification required within 3 months of hireWork Environment
This position operates in an oncology office, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. You will be trained and perform duties for both the front and back office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
