Northern Light Inland Hospital Department: RHC - Madison-Skowhegan Position is located: Inland Family Care RHC Madison/Skowhegan Work Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40.00 Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Summary: The non-certified medical assistant provides direct and in-direct patient care under clinical direction of the provider they are working with and the office leadership within a medical office setting. Performs duties such as routine intake of patients which includes taking vital signs and assuring patients understand their plan of care and instructions. Responsibilities: Clinical + Properly collect and understand the required vital signs, screening questions. + Properly gather a history and reason for visit. + Ensure a complete medication reconciliation is completed and ready for the provider to complete at each visit. Administrative Assisting + Document all aspects of patient care in a timely manner on both paper medical records and the electronic medical record. Communication & Customer Service + Communicates and interacts with patients and families, providers, peers and other health care members to maximize successful outcomes and maximize function of the unit. Medical Law & Ethics + Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. Patient Care Coordination & Education + Facilitate patient compliance (e.g. continuity of care, follow up, medication compliance) to optimize health outcomes. Other + May perform other duties upon request and with proper training and competency documented. Other Information: + Medical Assistants (Non-Certified) will be given the opportunity to complete a Northern Light Health Medical Assistant Program or Self-Study option and once certified moved into a Certified Medical Assistant I. + This job description may be reviewed and modified as needed.
