Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role involves a mixture of clinical and scheduling responsibilities, ensuring the smooth operation of our medical services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical experience, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to patient care.
ResponsibilitiesTriage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, chief complaints, reconciling medication lists, and allergies, and preparing patients for their visit.Escort patients from the reception area and prepare them for examination by providing gowns.Take vital signs, draw blood, and administer injections as requested.Perform HCG, urinalysis, rapid strep tests, cultures, process in-house lab results and outbound tests, and INRs in the absence of the department manager.Conduct EKGs, PFTs, nebulizer treatments, apply oxygen as needed, assist with pap exams, perform ear lavages, and administer immunizations and other injections as ordered.Chaperone when appropriate and assist during treadmills, colposcopies, and minor surgeries.Maintain clean, well-equipped examination rooms and sterilize instruments.Stock examination rooms, triage areas, and workstations with medical supplies for the designated team.Perform phone triage, complete team tasks, paperwork, and faxes.Scan upcoming appointments for additional medical record information, and obtain medical records from other physician offices, hospitals, labs, emergency rooms, and radiology prior to patient visits.Participate in all staff meetings, educational lectures, and quality improvement activities.Follow protocols related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.Complete annual recertification for Blood Borne Pathogens, HIPAA Compliance Training, Respiratory FIT, and IT Policy.Maintain current CPR certification and any updates related to M.A. Certification.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsCertified or Registered Medical Assistant requiredSurgery experience, specifically around scheduling, surgery, dermatology, and plastic surgeryAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma plus successful completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA)Completion of BLS class and recertify every 2 yearsWork Environment
The position is within the surgery department with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, including a 30-minute lunch. The work environment usually has a moderate noise level and requires specific vision abilities including close vision. The role involves regular exposure to body fluids such as blood, urine, and saliva, and potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. The work is primarily indoors, but may require being outdoors when traveling between campus buildings or off-campus. Training sessions may be presented before or after regular work hours depending on the clinical needs of the department.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $25.50/hr.
