Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient flow, preparing treatment rooms and equipment, and providing procedural support. This position requires an individual who is reliable, punctual, and capable of performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure efficient patient flow.
+ Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient examinations.
+ Provide appropriate procedural support following department-specific guidelines.
+ Perform initial intake of patients, including interviewing patients and families to obtain chief complaints/reasons for visits, vital signs, and allergy information.
+ Accurately record and update relevant patient information.
+ Perform daily Quality Controls (QC) for all Point of Care (POC) testing.
+ Obtain specimens, perform, and record patient POC testing per policy.
+ Track and retrieve patient lab/diagnostic testing results to facilitate timely provider review and follow-up under provider and/or RN direction.
+ Perform administrative functions of the patient prescription renewal process under provider and/or RN direction.
+ Provide cross coverage for other appropriate clinical roles.
+ Support departmental medical record audits as needed.
+ Clean and stock patient care rooms between patients.
+ Maintain appropriate inventories of all medical supplies.
+ Stock and maintain all patient-related forms and educational materials.
+ Utilize equipment appropriately and notify the Practice Manager in a timely fashion of equipment/facility breakdown or damage.
+ Ensure documentation is legible and falls within the appropriate MA scope/organizational documentation guidelines.
+ Accurately document patient information on appropriate forms and demonstrate accuracy in basic data entry and data retrieval of paper/electronic patient records.
+ Perform other duties as may be assigned to promote the health, safety, and comfort of patients.
+ Travel to satellite locations as required.
+ Demonstrate an awareness of safety needs and a basic knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, risk management, and environment of care policies.
+ Ask questions, seek clarifications, and request assistance when needed and in situations that fall outside of the MA scope of practice.
+ Demonstrate support for the mission, vision, values, and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with organizational standards.

Work Environment
Candidates will be working in a Cardiology office located near Great Neck, New York. The office operates with four providers throughout the week, with one internist who has his own medical assistant. The shift is Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour shift from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break. No weekend work is required. Candidates must know how to take manual vitals, be familiar with holter monitors, and know how to perform an EKG.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
