Job Title: Medical Assistant - West Orange
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated medical assistant to support back office functions at a high-volume medical office. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of tasks including patient intakes, vital checks, medication reconciliation, and room preparation. You will also be responsible for updating patient records and electronic medical records, preparing charts, and assisting with prior authorizations.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct patient intakes and load patient rooms.
+ Perform vital checks and medication reconciliation.
+ Prepare charts prior to patient visits and patient rooms.
+ Complete prior authorizations and review MRI reports.
+ Restock rooms and supply closets, complete inventory.
+ Triage phone calls for any physician or patient questions.
+ Update patient records and electronic medical records (Athena).
+ Prepare patient charts, files for EMR, load rooms for other physicians as needed.
+ Update disability and FMLA forms.
+ Clean and stock rooms, take inventory.
Essential Skills
+ Medical assisting experience.
+ Patient care experience.
+ At least 1 year of medical assistant experience.
+ Experience with electronic medical records (Athena preferred).
+ Experience in ortho, podiatry, pain management, spine, or surgery.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred but not required.
+ Experience with bracing, cast removals, and suture removals is ideal.
+ Experience in a high-volume office is beneficial.
Work Environment
+ The position operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 7 AM to 5 PM, totaling 40 hours per week.
+ Some days may end as early as 3 PM, while others may extend past 5 PM due to patient delays.
+ Employees are expected to arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of their shift.
+ Occasionally, some Saturdays may be required, but the weekly schedule will be adjusted to maintain a 40-hour work week. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are designated office hours, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are prep days.
+ The medical assistant will work closely with a hand surgeon, a scribe, and a physician assistant.
+ Expect to manage 30-40 patients on a full day with appointments scheduled every 10 minutes.
+ Candidates must also be able to cover other offices in the general area for Ortho/Podiatry as needed, including locations such as Fair Lawn, Montclair, West Orange, and Hackensack.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
