Job Title: Medical Assistant (ENT)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant with a specialization in ENT to join our clinic. This role involves managing patient flow, providing patient education, coordinating prescriptions and referrals, and assisting with minor in-office procedures. You will also be responsible for scheduling surgeries, processing instruments, and maintaining detailed logs for the office nurse.

ResponsibilitiesControl the flow of the clinic.Provide patient teaching.Send in prescriptions.Place referrals as ordered during visits and task the office nurse with the referral.Place lab orders, give them to patients at check-out, and log them for tracking.Place or notate radiology orders that need scheduling and log them for tracking.Coordinate surgery scheduling with the scheduler, print lab orders, review packets with patients, and give patient instructions. Log surgeries scheduled or needing to be scheduled.Send tasks to the office nurse for items that cannot be done in the clinic, such as obtaining additional patient records or filling out FMLA paperwork.Scan documents as able (additional scanner at nurse’s station to assist).Set up and assist with minor in-office procedures.Process instruments.Provide the office nurse with an end-of-day log summary, including new surgery patients/dates, referrals needing scheduling, paperwork packets, and other follow-up items.Essential SkillsCertified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.6 months to 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant and surgery scheduler.Willingness to travel to Virginia Beach locations as needed.BLS Certification.Medical Assistant Diploma.Back office experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in ENT or Allergy is a plus.Triage experience.Taking vitals.Strong clerical and organizational skills.Strong insurance knowledge.Work Environment

Working hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or until the last patient is seen, Monday to Friday, with weekends off. The practice includes various physicians specializing in different areas of ENT, creating a dynamic and educational environment. The practice also hosts around 15 residents and values candidates who are eager to learn and grow.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.
