Job Description
The Medical Assistant Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. This role supports clinicians and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient populations. The medical assistant floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will be working in various offices to support in either the Medical Assistant role or dedicated lab roles.
ResponsibilitiesPerform quality team-based patient care under clinician supervision.Support clinicians and care management teams in chronic disease management, examination, and treatment of patients.Perform all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.Float between various office locations to support in the Medical Assistant or lab roles as required.Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.Assess emergencies and act accordingly.Maintain knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements and universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices.Essential SkillsMedical assistingPhlebotomyTaking vitals (manual vitals preferred)Knowledge of basic medical terminologyKnowledge of laboratory quality control requirementsKnowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practicesAbility to communicate and maintain effective working relationshipsAbility to assess emergencies and act accordinglyFlexibility to float from one location to another as patient queue demandsAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma required2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare settingMedical Assistant diploma OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR 3 years' Medical Assistant experienceBilingual (English-Spanish) requiredPhlebotomy experience requiredActive BLS certification requiredActive driver's license requiredExperience with TriMed EMR preferredPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41288.00 - $51043.00/yr.
