Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant II builds on the responsibilities of the Medical Assistant I by providing exceptional customer service and high-quality support to patients and the healthcare team. This role involves working collaboratively across the health center as part of a multidisciplinary team. The MA II demonstrates leadership, initiative, and a commitment to improving the medical assistant role. They will partner with departmental leadership to support new initiatives and achieve departmental goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Clinical Preparation and Support: Ensure all test results, instruments, and supplies are ready per department protocol; assist providers and communicate effectively throughout patient sessions.
+ Perform Clinical Tasks: Accurately measure vital signs, conduct EKGs, spirometry, and other point-of-care tests, and follow proper sterilization protocols for instruments.
+ Manage Patient Flow: Coordinate efficient patient flow by rooming patients, obtaining chief complaints, and supporting overall care delivery; assist with patient ambulation, transfers, and personal care needs.
+ Documentation and Communication: Complete documentation promptly using the electronic medical record (Epic), interact professionally with patients and staff, and handle phone calls, appointment scheduling, and clinical paperwork.
+ Leadership and Team Support: Foster teamwork, assist with staffing assignments, mentor and train new medical assistants, and collaborate with leadership to implement new initiatives and solve patient care scenarios.
+ Maintain Workspace and Safety: Stock and clean exam rooms, ensure supplies are up-to-date, report equipment issues, and adhere to environmental safety and infection control procedures.
Qualifications and requirements:
Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Graduation from a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
Experience:
+ One year of experience as a Medical Assistant and one year of experience in Customer Service preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
+ Excellent oral, listening, and written communication skills.
+ Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish)
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
+ BLS Certification Required
+ Medical Assistant Certification Required

Pay
Starting at $24.15 up to $36.22 depending on experience
