Medical Assistant (MA) Supervisor - Primary Care
Overview Primary Care- Located at D-H Heater Road Patient Population- All Ages Hours: Typically 745a-5p M-F Heater Road Primary Care has the pleasure of caring for patients across the entire age spectrum, from newborn babies to geriatrics. We are a large clinic that is divided up into Internal Medicine who sees patients 18 years and older and Family medicine who sees patients of all ages including children and infants. MAs in our clinic will be cross trained in both areas. The MA role is an integral part to the clinic’s ability to provide excellent patient care. Some of the tasks included but not limited to- patient rooming, EKG’s, urine dips, pregnancy testing, hearing and vision screens, lead testing, vaccine administration, assisting clinicians during procedures, prescription refills and other administrative needs. The clinic structure and tasks can provide a great foundation of skills and learning for a new MA. Successful MAs have the ability to work as a team, strong work ethics, professionalism and flexibility. Average Day: The medical assistant at Heater Road works in an extremely fast-paced environment. A typical medical assistant/provider day includes a combination of well and acute care visits, which may include the above-mentioned tasks. We are currently offering a $5000 sign on bonus for eligible MA hires! Responsibilities * Monitors patient flow to ensure efficient use of schedules and rooming of patients. * Writes annual performance appraisals and conducts appraisal meetings. * Ensures adherence to all standards, procedures, and protocols. * Encourages, supports, and provides educational opportunities for employees’ development. * Coordinates the daily operations of the practice. * Ensures staffing, space, furniture, and equipment/supply needs of the office are met. * Analyzes work flows to ensure maximum staff utilization. Works to create a positive and harmonious working environment. * Coordinates employee schedules and assignments and approves employee time off requests. * Performs service recovery to promote patient and employee retention. * Develops, maintains, and revises office procedures and systems in order to ensure efficient, effective operations. * Functions as a resource to management in designing and implementing workflow changes that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. * Acts as preceptor for new employees. * Facilitates orientation and training for new employees. Monitors completion of orientation checklist and completes computer access requests. * Coordinates and directs special quality improvement pilots and projects involving the clinical support staff. * Serves as liaison with other persons/departments concerning services offered by the office. * May be required to travel to multiple sites. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications * Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program with 3 years of clinical experience required. * Experience coordinating activities for a group preferred. * Ability to effectively delegate and hold staff accountable for responsibilities. * Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required. * Ability to relate sensitively to people, maintain confidentiality, multi-task, and work well under pressure. Required Licensure/Certifications ?? - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) ???
