GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Assists physicians and extenders in providing proper medical care for patients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Rooms and interviews patients to obtain medical information and to measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Records information in the medical record. (40%)Provides clinical support to physicians and extenders during patient examinations and procedures.  (25%)Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the room stocked and cleaned, reordering supplies, and disposing of biohazard supplies. (10%)Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary. (15%)May collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing; give injections. (5%)May perform general clerical duties. (5%)Depending on location, travel to satellite locations may be required.Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

Medical Assistant diploma or Associate's degree required or equivalent clinical experienceCPR – American Heart AssociationAct 34 Criminal Background Clearance CertificateAct 33 Child Abuse Clearance CertificateAct 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

Driver's license may be required for travel between physician offices depending upon practice requirements
