Job DescriptionMedical Assistant – Retail Clinics
Position Description The Medical Assistant ensures smooth operations within the clinic with the goal of providing a positive patient experience with every customer encounter. Responsible for the overall patient flow through the clinic, providing excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times. Assists providers in delivery of professional medical care including but not limited to
• Greet patients on arrival.
• Patient Registration and Check in.
• Verifying Insurance at time of visit
• Collecting of Fees as Appropriate (Co-Pay, Co-Insurance)
• Running estimates for High Deductible plans and collection of amounts owed
• Scheduling Patient Appointments
• Rooming Patients
• Checking and Entering Patients Vitals
• Verifying Patients' Medical and Surgical History
• Verifying Patients Medication List
• Abuse Indicator Questions
• Documentation in the EMR per clinic protocol
• Provide report to provider.
• Performing Point of Care Testing such as Flu, Covid, Strep, Urine Analysis, Glucose, INR, Lipid Panel, and HCG.
• Documenting results in patients’ chart
• Performing Monthly Quality Control Tests
• Performing Opening and Closing Duties per check list
• Assisting NPs with Ordering Supplies
• Ensuring all supplies are up to date and not expired.
• Checking Clinic Voicemail and Fax
• Calling patients with results
• Documenting INR process and results in EMR
• Give vaccinations and IM injections as ordered.
• Orientation of new staff
• Cleans clinic at the end of shift
