Medical Assistant RPT Tellica Imaging

Job Description:

A Medical assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. Additionally, the MA RPT Performs imaging exams for which the employee meets the Medical Group's Core Exam Specifications and as allowed by their Radiologic Practical Technologist License. Caregivers must demonstrate competency in these areas through successful completion of skills test/competency review.

Shift Details:   Full-Time (36 hrs/wk - 3x12 hr, 7AM to 7PM with rotating Monday-Wednesday and Thursday-Saturday every two weeks)

A Medical Assistant will be responsible for communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions. Under the direction of the Clinician, the Medical Assistant will provide care to patients by assisting the provider to gather information that is relative to the patient’s visit and condition.

The Medical Assistant will work with cross functional teams to collaborate on patient care.  Attention to detail and follow through are key components in helping to provide the care that is needed. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate proficiency in basic Medical Assisting skills as well as have experience providing care in an ambulatory setting.

Job Details:

Performs radiologic exams that produce quality images and ensure patient and staff safety. Accomplishes this by following proper protocols, correct patient positioning, appropriate and effective use of equipment, and adherence to radiation protection and guidelines.

Recognizes emergent patient situations and responds quickly and appropriately.

Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

Coordinates patient care and communicate pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedure.

Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff. Ensures that supplies and equipment are stored in an organized and efficient manner.

Pursues individual education and career development opportunities, emphasizing those for new procedures and equipment.

As appropriate, assists and instructs students and other XRay Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must be obtained prior to start date.

Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience or has a current RN/LPN license

Radiology Practical Technician License

Preferred Qualifications

Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.

Physical Requirements:

Carrying, crawling, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$19.20 - $27.35
