UTHealth Houston’s School of Dentistry is hiring for a full-time, benefits-eligible, Medical Assistant to join their team of professionals. The MA will be responsible for acting as a patient navigator, conducting patient screening and exams, scheduling appointments, ordering and stocking clinical supplies, maintaining accurate EHR records, and more.
This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding

Provides trained paramedical support in administering health care services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Directs the patient to the examination room.
2. Conducts the initial screening of occupational medicine patients which involves audiometric testing, keystone machine eye testing, electrocardiogram testing, vital signs, height and weight, spyrometer testing, and preparation of reporting forms.
3. Reviews patient health history through a personal interview with the patient.
4. Assists physicians with examinations.
5. Schedules patient appoints and tests.
6. Performs triage to determine patient needs.
7. Orders and stocks needed clinic supplies. Maintains and schedules repair of diagnostic testing equipment.
8. Relieves, as needed, the reception area.
9. Responds to emergency situations.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Use and care of standard clinic equipment. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program preferred
Minimum Experience:
Six months experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
