MEDICAL ASSISTANT - SENECA MED CTR

Responsible to complete clinical and administrative tasks within the physician office setting. Job duties may include: patient assessment including vital signs and administration of injections, scheduling and chart preparation, EMR documentation, and other tasks as delegated by the supervisor.

Education
Minimum:   High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:   Completion of a Certificate/Diploma/Degree Program in a Healthcare related field

Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Family & Friends CPR

Experience
Minimum:   N/A
Preferred:   Two years experience within a physician practice.

I. Specific Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Performs patient assessment and physical examination appropriate to age and disability of patient and pertinent to the patient’s condition. Documents findings in EMR. Responsible to schedule patients based on physician availability and/or acuity of patient. Obtains authorizations, updates insurance information and reconciles daily charge sheets in a timely, efficient manner. Prepares patient charts according to physician specific protocols and office schedule. Appropriate utilization of EMR for verification of med refills, call processing and progress notes.

II. Organizational Responsibilities:

Completed mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes. Completed annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. Maintained license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. Identifies and works to reduce potentially unsafe patient care or other safety practices. Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
