Description We are offering a contract for a Medical Biller position in the healthcare industry, located in Salinas, California. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for a range of tasks including processing patient bills, authorizing payments, and dealing with insurance claims.
Responsibilities
• Take charge of billing and posting revenue payments and charges to patient accounts and insurance payers.
• Pay attention to the accuracy and completeness of patient bills, obtaining any missing or incomplete information.
• Handle the preparation, review, and transmission of claims through automated systems as well as manual paper claim processes.
• Develop knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO, PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid.
• Monitor unpaid claims within a specific billing cycle timeframe and take necessary action.
• Confirm the accuracy and compliance of insurance payments based on contractual terms.
• Investigate any discrepancies in payments and resolve payor matters as necessary.
• Take responsibility for identifying and billing secondary payors.
• Ensure proper follow-up on all accounts with payor or patient.
• Handle payor-specific appeals and denial of claims efficiently. Requirements • Candidate must possess a solid understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR) practices and principles.
• Proficiency in billing procedures is essential for this role.
• Experience in medical billing is a key requirement; candidates should be familiar with medical billing codes and processes.
• Knowledge of healthcare industry practices and regulations is necessary.
• The applicant should have the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must for this role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for liaising with medical professionals and patients.
• Proficiency in using medical billing software and other related computer applications is necessary.
• The candidate should be capable of maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle billing disputes effectively are essential.
• The applicant should have the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
• Experience in social assistance, particularly in a healthcare setting, would be advantageous.
