Medical Biller/Collections Specialist
Description We are welcoming a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to join our team located in SCRANTON, Pennsylvania. This role is pivotal for our healthcare industry team, as it involves managing all aspects of inpatient and outpatient billing. The position also necessitates the facilitation of claims processes, including the creation, follow-up, and correspondence with providers, insurance inquiries, and patients. Responsibilities: • Prepare and submit clean claims to third-party payers both electronically and by paper • Ensure all billing guidelines and legal requirements are followed to maintain compliance with federal and state regulations • Respond to account inquiries from patients, payers, providers, and other staff as requested • Identify and resolve patient/insurance billing issues in a timely manner • Work in collaboration with team members regarding claim appeals, denials, resolution, and education • Monitor all steps in the billing processes to ensure maximum reimbursement from patients, government, and commercial payers • Maintain an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payer rules and regulations applicable to billing • Use online healthcare databases and other resources for verification and claim status • Deliver the highest quality service to internal and external customers • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations For immediate consideration please apply directly to job posting or call 610-882-1600 Requirements • Proficiency in Medical Billing and Dental Billing is required • Ability to effectively communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal stakeholders • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills • Solid understanding of medical terminology, coding, and office procedures • Previous experience in a medical billing or collections role is preferred • Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic medical records systems • Strong problem-solving skills to address billing discrepancies and resolve issues effectively • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • High level of integrity and reliability • Must comply with all legal and company regulations related to medical billing and collections • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
