Medical Biller/Collections Specialist
Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This role is focused on managing all aspects of inpatient and outpatient billing, including claim creation, follow-up, and correspondence with various stakeholders such as providers, insurance companies, and patients. This position plays a crucial part in our Revenue Cycle and is instrumental in enhancing process improvements and inquiries to optimize revenue. Responsibilities: • Efficiently prepare and submit clean claims to third-party payers either electronically or by paper. • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations by adhering to billing guidelines and legal requirements. • Handle account inquiries from patients, payers, providers, and other staff as required. • Identify and resolve issues related to patient/insurance billing. • Collaborate with team members on claim appeals, denials, resolution, and education. • Oversee all steps in the billing processes to secure maximum reimbursement from patients, government, and commercial payers as well as from special billing arrangements. • Stay updated with Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payer rules and regulations related to billing. Inform business office staff, clinics, residents, and faculty of changes as necessary. • Ensure all new residents and providers are oriented to coding, billing, and documentation compliance. • Review and implement changes from payer bulletins. • Utilize online healthcare databases and other resources for verification and claim status. • Deliver superior service to internal and external customers. • Assist team members with projects as needed. • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. For immediate consideration please apply directly to job posting or call 610-882-1600 Requirements • Applicant must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; higher education in a relevant field will be highly appreciated. • Proven work experience as a Medical Biller or Collections Specialist is required. • Proficiency in medical and dental billing systems is mandatory. • Strong knowledge of medical codes, terminology, and regulations is essential. • The candidate should have a thorough understanding of insurance procedures, co-payments, and deductibles. • Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures is a must. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, is required. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for liaising with patients, medical professionals, and insurance companies. • The candidate must have strong data entry skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. • An ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently is expected. • The applicant should have the ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality. • A knack for problem-solving and the ability to handle patient queries regarding billing issues is crucial. • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in procedures or processes is needed.
