POSITION SUMMARY The Medical Biller is responsible for the preparation of billing documents for private insurance, Medicare/Medicaid and private pay sources and maintenance of fiscal or related records and other ancillary and assigned task to support billing operations. 
QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED certificate. One-year medical clerical experience including coding/medical billing and/or have completed a medical assistant course that includes requirements for medical claims. Knowledgeable about coding systems, billing requirements, specialized medical terminology, computers and billing software. Ability to maintain financial records and to prepare reports. Have effective writing and communication skills. Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares all billing documents utilizing relevant coding systems. Processes and submits all billing claims i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, private pay billings. Maintains records and prepares reports as requested in a timely manner. Research patient insurance information and updates billing information. Attends and participates in in-services and staff meetings and continues to acquire knowledge of billing systems, practices and policies. Accepts training as needed. Protects privacy rights of patients and confidentiality of records. Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner. Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations and standards of practice. Performs other tasks as may be assigned.
