Description We are seeking a Medical Coder in Sacramento, California, 95821, United States. This role entails the interpretation and translation of medical information into numeric or alphanumeric codes. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and processing medical claims for insurance companies, ensuring patients are billed correctly. This is a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Translate patient information and medical histories into appropriate coding.
• Review medical reports and record services into numeric and alphanumeric codes.
• Conduct regular audits and coding reviews to ensure all documentation is accurate and precise.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and legal standards.
• Stay updated with changes in coding and billing regulations.
• Prepare, submit, and manage insurance claims.
• Provide guidance and training to junior coders, if required.
• Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnostics or to obtain additional information.
• Ensure compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines.
• Utilize skills with 3M, 3m Coding, Allscripts, Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Cerner Technologies, Auditing, Billing Functions, Charts - Graphs, Claim Administration, and Clinical Trial Operations. Requirements • Proficiency in medical coding software such as 3M and 3m Coding
• Experience with electronic health records software like Allscripts and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
• Knowledge of Cerner Technologies for healthcare information
• Strong auditing skills to ensure coding accuracy
• Familiarity with medical billing functions
• Ability to interpret and represent data through charts and graphs
• Experience in claim administration in a healthcare setting
• Understanding of clinical trial operations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Certification in medical coding from a recognized institution would be an advantage.
