We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate coding, compliance, and streamlined revenue cycle management (RCM) processes. This position requires a thorough understanding of medical records review, claims analysis, and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding and maximum reimbursement.
Salary - $40,000-$45,000
Responsibilities Medical Records Review: Analyze patient medical records to assign accurate and appropriate codes based on diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.Claims Review: Review claims for completeness and compliance with insurance requirements to minimize errors, rejections, and denials.Charge Entry Analysis: Verify and analyze charge entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding standards.Error and Denial Correction: Identify and correct coding errors, resolve claim rejections, and address insurance denials efficiently.Provider Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers to assign accurate codes and provide guidance for improved documentation and record-keeping practices.Maximizing Reimbursement: Advise on documentation improvements and coding strategies to achieve optimal reimbursement for services rendered.Compliance Maintenance: Stay updated on state, city, and federal coding regulations, as well as payer-specific guidelines, to ensure compliance.Modifier Assignment: Accurately assign modifiers to codes as necessary for billing purposes.RCM Process Support: Partner with the billing department to ensure a smooth and efficient revenue cycle management workflow. Qualifications Certification as a Medical Coding Specialist preferred and/or Experience with pediatric coding will be considered.Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare procedures.Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting medical records and documentation.Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with healthcare providers and billing teams.Experience with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems is preferred.
