Robert Half is currently seeking an experienced Medical Collections Specialist to join a leading healthcare organization in Minneapolis. In this vital role, you'll contribute to the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely and accurate collection of payments from patients and insurance providers. Key Responsibilities: + Manage accounts receivable by conducting follow-ups on outstanding payments with patients and insurance companies. + Research and resolve claims that are denied, underpaid, or delayed. + Handle inquiries from patients or payers regarding balances, payment plans, and billing discrepancies. + Submit appeals to insurance companies for denied claims, ensuring updated documentation and compliance with payer policies. + Accurately update patient accounts and payment status in the organization's billing and collections software. + Collaborate with internal billing and coding teams to address discrepancies and verify claim accuracy using resources like CPT or ICD-10 codes. + Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and all applicable healthcare laws. Requirements What We’re Looking For: + Proven experience in medical collections or accounts receivable in a healthcare environment. + Strong familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner. + Knowledge of insurance claim procedures, including Explanation of Benefits (EOB), appeals, and denial management. + Understanding of medical billing practices. + Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work compassionately with patients. + Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail. + Prior experience with regulatory and HIPAA compliance requirements in a healthcare setting.
