Summary
Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, the flagship teaching hospital of LifeBridge Health and the Regional Medical Campus for the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Medical Director for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) to join the Division of Critical Care Medicine within our Department of Medicine.
Sinai Hospital has the privilege of serving the people of greater Baltimore as well as national and international patients. As a nonprofit teaching hospital, Sinai provides training for more than 140 residents and 400 medical students yearly and provides the opportunity for an academic faculty appointment with George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Sinai is the largest Community hospital in Maryland with 483 beds with a 29 -bed closed ICU; and is part of LifeBridge Health System which also includes Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, and Grace Medical Center.
The Medical Director of Critical Care will oversee the clinical team and critical care program to ensure the highest standards in clinical practice, quality, and patient safety. They will foster a positive culture of teamwork, engagement, accountability, and collaboration, and will lead the ongoing development of the critical care program as the health care environment evolves.
Major responsibilities include:
Being a role model of excellence in patient care delivery and personal attitude Dedication to teaching learners in the medical intensive care unit Leading the clinical team in superior clinical practice and outcomes, by both collaboratively developing and implementing up-to-date evidence-based standards of practice and ensuring their adherence. Managing variation in clinical practice, where appropriate, to improve efficiency, reliability, effectiveness, and outcomes. Staying abreast of internal and external benchmarks and actively pursuing efforts to achieve the best in class. Providing leadership in attaining and sustaining outstanding patient experience. Fostering a culture that inspires commitment to the vision, mission, and guiding principles the organization and of LifeBridge Critical Care. Bringing knowledge and innovation to program development based on the changing healthcare environment, including collaborating on staffing models, supply and equipment needs, new practices and education. Collaborating with multidisciplinary leaders throughout the organization to drive and align with the goals of the organization Collaborating with Medical Directors of Critical Care in other LifeBridge Health hospitals to ensure consistency and best practices throughout the health system.If you possess the following qualifications and have interest in leading a high-acuity, highly respected community academic critical care program, please apply immediately:
Critical Care fellowship trained and BE/BC in Critical Care Medicine Maryland Medical License without restrictions Current CDS and DEA license BLS and ACLS certification Procedural competence in the major critical care procedures including central line insertion with ultrasound guidance, arterial catheter insertion, IO insertion, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, intubation, and chest tube insertion. Demonstrated the ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team An innovative leader who drives excellence by example and humility Excellent people skills and a high emotional intelligence Must have experience and success in collaborative process improvement, operations, and the development of evidence-based guidelines and practices to drive patient safety and quality.
