Medical Director, PRTF & Residential Treatment
JOB SUMMARY : The Medical Director, Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is responsible for all services, including services delivered by Psychiatric Residential Treatment staff. Dependent upon organizational needs, this position may be full or part time. In collaboration with the Director of Residential Services, the Medical Director builds policies, standard operating procedures, quality measures, and data collection systems to help achieve desired wellness outcomes for clients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: + Assess all referrals for PRTF and lead the PRTF multi-disciplinary team in care decisions for each client placed in the PRTF. + Complete psychiatric assessment of client immediately upon admission. + Complete weekly face to face consultations with clients admitted to the PRTF. + Participate in weekly care meetings for clients in the PRTF. + Make referrals for secondary and tertiary care as needed. + Document all client contact accurately, legibly and in compliance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.   + Provide psychiatric direction and administration including, but not limited to, contribute to medical and psychiatric policy and procedural guidelines as needed. + Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. + Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental and infection control standards. OTHER DUTIES: + Attend all required staff meetings. + Accept and act within accordance of the Agency’s philosophy about providing excellent care and working with clients in a dignified and respectful manner at all times. + Sensitivity to the racial, cultural and developmental backgrounds of individual students and the group as a whole. + Attend scheduled supervision and on-going training. + All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. + Respect the privacy of students and hold in confidence all information obtained during the student’s treatment.  All student-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material. + Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures. + Other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS: + Education : M.D. or D. O. degree from an accredited United States medical school required. Successful completion of residency in Psychiatry required. Fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry preferred. + Licensure : Current Ohio Medical Practitioner License.  American Board of Specialties certification in psychiatry. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing. + Skills/Competencies :        + Excellent leadership, organizational, business, and clinical skills. + Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. + Core Expertise : Possesses skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date. + Cultural Competency : Demonstrates awareness, sensitivity and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal background and characteristics. + Interpersonal Communication : Communicates clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of professional language. + Professional & Ethical Conduct : Adheres to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; applies ethical concepts within scope of work and adheres to Agency policies and procedures. + Collaboration & Teamwork : Functions effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members. + Problem-Solving & Decision-Making : Recognizes problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions. +  Experience:         + Previous experience operating at senior levels of healthcare administration required. + Familiarity with psychiatry function at community behavioral health agencies preferred. + Experience with Medicaid service provision preferred. + Experience serving adolescent behavioral health needs strongly preferred.     #ACI-RSS-1 Applewood Centers, Inc.
