Job Title: Medical Director

 

Job Summary:                                                   

The Medical Director of the will be responsible for the management, supervision, and quality oversight of psychiatric care; developing a robust set of policies and procedures for psychiatric staff; collaborating with other clinical and administrative clinic leadership to optimize patient care, staff competence, and staff morale; direct patient care; and, along with the Program Director, building a strong psychiatric training program.

 

Location Address: 2090 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard, New York, NY 10027. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.

 

What you will be doing: 

Supervise psychiatric providers (psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners)Recruitment and retention of high quality, mission-driven psychiatric providersCreate, implement, and monitor adherence to policies related to psychiatric services such as medication prescribing, monitoring for side effects, integration with other medical services, and psychotherapy for those interestedReview and revise the psychiatric documentation in the clinic’s electronic medical recordManagement/oversight of the implementation of buprenorphine/naloxone prescribingIn collaboration with clinic leadership, implementation and proper execution of telepsychiatry services for select patient encountersParticipation and leadership in regular clinic meetings, including high risk rounds, staff meetings, budget and operational meetings, and clinic leadership meetingsServe as the clinic liaison to the city’s psychiatric hospitals (both acute and state) and CPEP/emergency roomsParticipate in regular supervision and strategic planning sessions with the Chief Medical OfficerIn collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, design, build, implement and supervise psychiatric and psychiatric NP training programsServe as the clinical lead for the Incident Review CommitteeAt least 70% of their time per week dedicated to direct patient care unless otherwise directed by senior leadership

 

What we are looking for: 

Board certified PMHNP (PNP), M.D., or D.O. degree with active New York State license in good standingGraduate of ACGME-accredited psychiatry training program if applicableABPN Board-certified or equivalent certification of competenceAt least two years of experience working with individuals with serious mental illnessExcellent diagnostic, clinical formulation, and treatment skillsStrong leadership abilities and flexibility to work successfully with a wide range of multi-disciplinary staffMAT-waivered or ability to receive waiver within 3 months of hireExperience working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system preferred

 

Workplace Flexibility: 

This position is Hybrid:  Positions for which staff can work from a remote (home or another suitable space) one day per week or more (in a typical week) as by leadership. Occasional travel required between clinic offices.
