Job Summary:
The Developmental Pediatrician/Medical Director ensures that the highest possible quality services are provided to the patients who are treated within the Center. They ensure NYSDOH Article 28 regulations, healthcare laws, evidence-based practices and best practices are adhered to in daily operations. The Medical Director is responsible for directing a patient care team in an outpatient evaluation and treatment setting and overseeing daily operations of a healthcare facility. Their duties include monitoring and implementing strategies to improve outcomes for patients with a wide range of developmental and behavioral health needs including developmental and learning disabilities, complex neurodevelopmental conditions, autism, ADHD, genetic disorders, and other special health care needs. The Medical Director also sees patients regularly.
Essential Job Duties:
**Medical Director Duties**
-Provides a positive leadership role model to the staff, portraying the expectations and culture for the operations, consistent with HCC and OLV Values, empowering others to initiate new ideas and be accountable.
-Provides medical direction and administration including, but not limited to, the development and teaching of clinical practice guidelines.
-Prepares reports for the Board of Directors.
-Supervises direct reports; approves time off request, approves timesheets and conducts performance reviews.
-Performs quality assurance activities including peer reviews.
-Participates and directs provider and medical care team meetings.
-Establishes linkage with pharmacy, dental care, mental health care and community referral entities, social support resources to improve and expand the scope of services available through community referrals.
-Establishes positive relationships with local medical community and attends local medical society functions.
-Keeps up to date with medical procedures, developments, treatments and available medication.
-Assists in creating an operating budget and monitors progress throughout the fiscal year.
- Complies with all federal and state regulations and agency policies pertaining to HIPAA, false claims, whistleblower policies and all others.
- Reviews and addresses productivity of staff to ensure financial sustainability.
-Assists in the development of and adherence to Policies and Procedures, consistent with DOH Article 28 regulations and within medical guidelines.
**Physician Duties:**
-Interviews patients and families to obtain history, performs physical examination, orders lab and other tests, and prescribes medications and treatments.
-Conducts developmental and emotional-behavioral evaluations and specialty assessments as needed.
- Provides diagnosis and continuing care of children with a broad range of neurodevelopmental and behavioral conditions, including autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, intellectual conditions, ADHD, learning disorders, and emotional andbehavioral disorders.
-Makes referrals for secondary and tertiary care as well as treatment.
-Performs medical procedures, according to privileges issued.
-Documents all patient contact accurately and legibly on the medical record.
-Maintains positive relationships with families and business partners.
-Performs as an active member of the medical team.
-Any other duty as assigned by your supervisor.

Minimum Education Required:
Minimum Degree Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO),
Licensed in the state of New York to practice medicine
Minimum Experience Required:
Minimum Experience Required: 5 years’ practice experience in the area of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics as a Licensed Pediatrician
License/Registration/ Certifications Required:
NYS Licensed Physician, Malpractice Insurance, DEA License

Physical Requirements:
-Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a patient, and perform CPR
-Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas.
-Hearing: Sufficient to hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages.
-Vision: Sufficient to make physical assessments of patients and equipment.
