Clinical Advisor is seeking a skilled Medical Editor to join an enthusiastic, science-minded editorial team that is focused on publishing news, editorials, and peer-reviewed research. This position is located in our New York office, with a hybrid schedule that allows for in-office collaboration with the team on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Clinical Advisor has been the source of news, perspectives, and peer-reviewed research for nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician associates (PAs) for over 27 years. NPs and PAs are routinely voted the most trusted health care providers by US News and World Report and the role of NPs and Pas in clinical practice is expanding into new and exciting areas.

Job Overview:

The Medical Editor is responsible for managing the journal submission and peer-review process for Clinical Advisor, which includes manuscript submission, coordinating peer review, editing, and publishing. In addition, the Medical Editor will work with the larger Clinical Advisor team to author, edit, curate, and/or publish news and feature articles, meeting coverage, and viewpoints distributed via digital and print channels. Across all responsibilities, the Medical Editor’s primary goal is to publish high-quality content that informs the clinical and professional needs of this dedicated group of health care providers, who depend on Clinical Advisor to for highly focused information and news.

Key responsibilities:

Work with the editorial team to develop and maintain the Editorial Calendar

Collaborate with an interdepartmental team to schedule a workflow and meet timelines that consider a wide-ranging list of priorities

Edit and fact-check clinical and scientific content

Formatting references to meet AMA style

Manage the peer-review process from manuscript submission through publication.

Write news/feature articles, as needed

Publish articles in WordPress

Contribute to the coverage of medical conferences

Conduct and capture audio and video interviews with experts

Ensure SEO adherence through consistent use of best practices while monitoring growth and performance using analytics tools (Google Analytics)

Skills and Requirements:

At least 5 years of experience working in an editorial capacity in a medical communications/publishing/education environment

Use of WordPress for publication of digital content

Excellent ability to quickly and proficiently edit and fact-check medical and technical materials

Familiarity with AMA style

Excellent reading comprehension, listening and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills

A successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines

The ability to conduct engaging and thought-provoking interviews with thought leaders and practicing clinicians

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $78,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
