Medical Informatics Undergrad Intern
Description: Job Summary:
Under supervision assists in the provision of information, maintenance of databases, report production and routine data analysis. Work is reviewed for completeness, accuracy and soundness.

Department Description:
Our department focuses on leveraging data science and medical informatics to enhance patient care, improve population health, and support organizational priorities. We specialize in the development and optimization of data-driven solutions, including electronic medical record enhancements, predictive analytics, and decision support tools. By integrating clinical expertise with advanced data methodologies, we aim to drive innovation and deliver impactful insights that align with organizational goals. 

Project Description:
Analyzing patient data to develop insights into trends impacting care delivery and population health.
Building and validating machine learning models to predict key health outcomes or resource utilization.
Supporting the evaluation of current systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement through data-driven analysis.
Collaborating with team members to design dashboards and visualizations that communicate findings to stakeholders effectively. These projects will provide the intern with exposure to real-world applications of data science in a healthcare setting, focusing on both technical skills and domain knowledge.

Desired Majors:
Computer Science, Data Science, Math/Statistics.

Preferred Skillsets:
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data analysis.
Familiarity with healthcare informatics or interest in applying data science to healthcare challenges.
Ability to manage and interpret large datasets while maintaining attention to detail.

Essential Responsibilities:
Examples of project support include: Collects, prepares and tracks reports and summaries such as: budget to actual expenditures, production statistics, and utilization of services and statistical records of performance. Performs a variety of data collection and analysis assignments. Prepares ad hoc data requests as directed. Prepares and/or formats graphs, spreadsheets and reports by utilizing office software. May be asked to maintain databases on a regular basis by entering data and preparing data extracts. May extract information from different sources to compile data. Executes existing queries for established reports.  Schedules conference calls and meetings. Contributes to the development of presentations materials. Provides administrative and project support as assigned such as copying, filing, entering and extracting data. Excellent written and oral communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - excel, word, access and PowerPoint.Proficient with a variety of software applications.Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Access and database experience desirable. Prior office experience also desirable.
