Hours may vary to first and second shift depending on department needs. Occasional weekends depending on patients request. + DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION + To provide accurate, professional medical interpretation for LEP (limited English Proficiency) patients at BMC and affiliated outpatient services. + POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) + Experience: + Two years preferred, interpreting for people with limited English proficiency, in official or unofficial capacity. + Can include medical, legal or business translation. + Education and Training: + High school diploma required, some college preferred. + Area Health Education Center Medical Interpreter Training Program course or equivalent. + License, Certification & Registration: + CMI or CHI certification preferred. + Other Requirements: + Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and ability to be flexible for on-call coverage, understand role and boundaries of an interpreter. + Strict adherence to confidentiality policy.
