Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and skilled Medical Lab Scientist I to join our team. The role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory operations, and contributing to quality patient care.
ResponsibilitiesDetermine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.Assist with processing of specimens when needed.Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements.0-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.Ability to work independently and within a team environment.Proficiency with computers.High level of attention to detail.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.Additional Skills & QualificationsState Medical Technologist license may be required.ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.Generalist experience with coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, etc.Experience with Cerner is a huge plus.Work Environment
This position is based in a hospital setting within the Core Lab General department. The work schedule includes Monday to Friday shifts with one opening for 10:10 PM to 7:00 AM and another for a night shift from 9:30 PM to 7:00 AM, operating on a 7 on 7 off schedule. The role offers a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential conversion based on experience.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $36.00/hr.
